October, here we come!

The schedule is on: The October tour towns and dates are set! See the events page here: http://www.booksbykt.com/events.php

first stop: Sioux City...

I can't wait... the tour last year was really fantastic, and a great, positive experience. Click here for photos of last year's tour. Here's a photo from the community college at Council Bluffs. We had the exhibit right in the student center, which was perfect.

You'd think that going around the state and talking about domestic violence every day would be pretty sad, but I was talking about SURVIVORs. That's a good thing! The volunteers and DV agency people at all the locations were wonderful; the people who viewed the exhibit were thoughtful and appreciative. I came home ready to do it all again.

Here's the summary for October 2009: I'll go to nine towns around the state. I'm still waiting to learn what the venue will be at each site, but most will be community college campuses. I know that two will be at malls (Keokuk, Sioux City), and one may be on a university campus (Iowa City). The exhibit will be up for two days in each town. It will include: the 31 portraits (2 x 3 feet each), exerpts of the stories, one or two quilts (also about 2 x 3 feet, I think?), a photo booth, a slideshow, material from the local DV agency, advance copies of the book (to look at but not take away), and excerpts of the book (to take).

See you there!
